Vancouver Police Seek Witness To Baseball Bat Beating In The Downtown Eastside

  • Vancouver Police Seek Witness To Baseball Bat Beating In The Downtown Eastside

Investigators would like to speak with a motorcyclist who witnessed an assault in the Downtown Eastside.

Just before 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24th, he pulled up beside another motorist near Main Street and Keefer and yelled at him to call 9-1-1 because he had just witnessed someone being beaten with a baseball bat.

The motorcyclist rode off and did not leave his contact information.

Police searched the area but were not able to locate a victim, witnesses, or a crime scene. Hours later, an injured 25-year-old man showed up at hospital where he remains in critical condition.

“At this stage of our investigation, we are not even sure if the man in the hospital is related to the incident the motorcyclist witnessed,” says VPD’s Constable Jason Doucette. “Our detectives would like to speak with the man on the motorcycle to help determine what may have led to 25-year-old’s injuries.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the police at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
