The Canadian Press , 03 Oct, 2014 09:21 AM

VANCOUVER - A man Vancouver police believe to be a gang associate is recovering from multiple stab wounds after a targeted home invasion.

Const. Brian Montague says police arrived at a downtown apartment early Friday morning after hearing reports that armed suspects had forced their way in.

Montague says officers found a 39-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds and another person who was not seriously hurt, but the suspects had already fled the apartment building.

The 39-year-old man has undergone surgery in the hospital, where he is now is serious but stable condition.

Montague says the man has no criminal record, but he is believed to be associated with gangs and drugs.

Police believe the home invasion was targeted, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
