Vancouver Police Probe 10th And 11th Homicides Of 2018 After Fatal Stabbings

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Jul, 2018 09:21 PM
Vancouver police are investigating the city's 10th and 11th homicides of the year, following two fatal stabbings.

Vancouver resident Shane John Tolmie, 26, died Sunday morning two days after he was stabbed in an apartment suite.

Officers arrested a 24-year-old woman, who knew the victim, at the scene. She has since been released pending further investigation.

Surrey resident Abeal Negussie Abera, also 26, died of his injuries on Saturday, a week after he was stabbed during a separate altercation.

Although no arrests have been made in Abera's death, police do not believe it was a random attack and say there's no risk to the general public.

By the end of June 2017, there had been 10 homicides, compared with five in 2016 and seven in 2017.
