Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 May, 2015 05:16 PM
VANCOUVER — Police in Vancouver are investigating an attempted sexual assault of a woman who awoke to find a masked man on top of her.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says the 21-year-old woman was asleep in her bed at about 6 a.m. when she realized a stranger in dark clothing had entered the room.

Police say the woman managed to fight off the Asian man who was between 20 and 30 years old and who ran from the home on the city's west side.

The woman called 911, and police searched the neighbourhood (2700-block of 22nd Avenue off Macdonald Street) but were unable to find a suspect.

Police say the woman was left distraught by the ordeal.

Officers are expected to search for evidence, including any video showing the assailant, and want anyone with information to  call the Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-3117 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
