Darpan News Desk , 04 Oct, 2016 12:35 PM
Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision after a pedestrian was hit by a car on East Hastings Street near Cassiar early Sunday morning.

Around 4 am, a fifty-eight-year-old man was crossing East Hastings Street mid-block, when he was hit by a taxi that was being driven westbound on East Hastings. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. He died in hospital late Sunday morning.

The driver of the taxi remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.

“We are reminding pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers to be more cautious, as daylight hours become shorter and fall’s rainy weather returns,” says VPD spokesperson Constable Jason Doucette.

    This is Vancouver’s 14th traffic-related fatality, and 10th pedestrian fatality in 2016.
