Vancouver Police have identified Naseb Fazil as the victim in Vancouver’s fifth homicide of the year.

Fazil, 19, suffered fatal stab wounds following a fight that broke out on the street between a large group near SW Marine Drive and Hudson Street on May 23 at 3:30 a.m.

“Surveillance footage from a nearby business shows there were numerous people in the area at the time Naseb Fazil was killed,” says Constable Tania Visintin. “We need those people to call police and provide investigators with any information they have. We particularly want to speak with anyone who has cell phone video that may have captured the incident.”

A 24-year-old man was arrested. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Police quickly arrived in the area and located the two suspects who fled in separate directions. A foot pursuit ensued and one of the suspects allegedly threw a loaded firearm into a bush as he was running from police. The suspect was taken into police custody and the firearm was located.
