Vancouver Police Arrest Wanted High-Risk Sex Offender in Coquitlam

    Vancouver – The high-risk sex offender police were searching for is back in custody.
     
    Thirty-six-year-old James Patrick Benson was granted statutory release on June 2nd and immediately fled from his Vancouver halfway house. 
     
    A Canada-wide warrant was issued and with the help of the RCMP, Benson was arrested in Coquitlam without incident.
     
    VPD says 36-year-old was picked up in Coquiltam, without incident.
     
    The two-time federal offender has a history of violent offences, including attempted murder and sexual assault with a weapon.
