Darpan News Desk, 06 Mar, 2020 06:42 PM

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested following a stabbing near the seawall in Yaletown last evening.

An 18-year-old man suffered minor physical injuries after he and three friends were confronted by the man while they were taking photographs in Coopers Park on Marinaside Crescent.

Just before 7:00 p.m., Vancouver Police officers responded to a man chasing people with a knife in the area of Davie Street and Marinaside Crescent.

“We are very lucky that no one sustained serious injuries, including our officers,” says Sergeant Aaron Roed, VPD. “The man resisted arrest, and several tactical resources were used to protect the public and take him into custody, where he remains.”

Vancouver Police have recommended charges for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, fail to comply with a release order, and obstruct a peace officer.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police non-emergency line at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
