  • Vancouver Police arrest man in Vancouver's fifth murder

Vancouver Police have arrested a 52-year-old Vancouver man following a stabbing in the Downtown Eastside on Canada Day.

The victim later died of his injuries. Luis Maulen has been charged with one count of second-degree murder for the death of 49-year-old Daniel Haydon of Vancouver.

Vancouver Police were called to East Hastings Street and Hawks Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m. on July 1 for reports of a stabbing.

Mr. Haydon was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries on July 3. Detectives were able to identify Maulen as the suspect and arrest him in Vancouver on July 3. Mr. Maulen is in custody.

This marks Vancouver’s fifth homicide of 2020.
