Vancouver Police Arrest Man Caught Breaking Into Home Under Construction

Darpan News Desk, 16 Nov, 2017 12:39 PM
A 37-year-old man is in jail after police watched him allegedly break into a home under construction on Vancouver’s west side on Monday evening. The suspect was arrested as he removed building supplies from the home.

At around 9:30 p.m. November 13th, officers from the VPD spotted a known property crime offender driving near West 41st Avenue and Columbia Street. The driver drove around a number of neighbourhoods before parking and walking to a house under construction. Officers arrested the man after allegedly watching him remove several boxes from the home.

“We have received several reports of break-ins to homes under construction in recent months,” says Constable Jason Doucette, VPD. “Thieves targeted high-end building supplies, and have even walked off with kitchen sinks. We encourage neighbours to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity around construction sites.”

Chad Russell Hubick has been charged with break-and-enter and possession of break-in instruments. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 21st.
