VANCOUVER — Charges have been laid following a violent home invasion that seriously injured a 29-year-old Vancouver woman.

Vancouver police say 50-year-old Paul Doczi was arrested Saturday.

He was taken into custody a day after the unnamed victim was attacked in her apartment by a man who police said had entered through what appeared to be an unlocked patio door.

Sgt. Jason Robillard says Doczi is known to police and charges of aggravated assault, break and enter, and theft have been approved.

Robillard says police also expect more charges could be forwarded to Crown for approval.

Doczi remains in custody and his next court date is scheduled for June 28.

Robillard says the department continues to support the assault victim as she recovers.

"This was a priority investigation and we are pleased we were able to get the suspect into custody fairly quickly," Robillard said in a news conference Monday.
