Vancouver Police appeals for witnesses to hit-and-run

Darpan News Desk Vancouver Police, 10 Nov, 2021 03:46 PM
  • Vancouver Police appeals for witnesses to hit-and-run

Vancouver Police are investigating a serious hit-and-run that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries and are asking witnesses to come forward.

“Despite a lengthy and ongoing investigation, investigators have yet to identify the driver and vehicle involved,” says Constable Tania Visintin. “VPD are now appealing to the driver, and anybody with information to come forward.”

On October 19 just before 11 p.m., a motorcycle rider was driving east on East Hastings Street, approaching Commercial Drive, when he was struck by a grey or silver SUV that was turning left from Hastings Street onto Commercial Drive. The driver of the SUV did not stop and was last seen driving away east in the south lane of East Hastings Street from Commercial Drive.

The motorcycle rider, 29, was taken to hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  He has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.

“Investigators believe there will be extensive damage to the rear passenger side of the suspect’s vehicle as a result of the collision,” adds Constable Visintin.

Witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area are asked to call VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
