Vancouver Police are appealing to the public to help identify the driver of a car who is responsible for a hit-and-run collision on the west side of Vancouver that took the life of a 30-year-old man.
Around 2:30 a.m. on April 17th, two men were skateboarding on Heather Street near West 54th Avenue when one of the men was hit by a northbound car.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping.
The skateboarder, Ryan Barron, died in hospital a short time later.
On April 19th, police located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision — a silver 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer — at a home on the east side of Vancouver. The vehicle was seized by police and processed by the Vancouver Police Forensics Unit.
Investigators are certain there are people in the community who know the driver’s identity.
“We are appealing to the driver of this vehicle, or anyone with information about this collision, to come forward to police,” says VPD spokesperson, Staff Sergeant Randy Fincham. “The driver was fully aware that they hit someone with enough force to cause significant injuries or death.”
Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call Vancouver Police at (604) 717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
