Vancouver Pharmacy's Licence Suspended After Rat And Mice Droppings, Mould Found

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 May, 2015 12:29 PM
VANCOUVER — A pharmacy in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside has had its license suspended after inspectors say they found rat droppings, mould and cockroach bait.

The College of Pharmacists of B.C. has ordered the closure of Native Vancouver Pharmacy (on East Hastings Street) after it says it found serious sanitation, structural and patient health concerns.

The college says believes the pharmacy poses a serious public and patient health risk and has ordered a suspension of its license effective June 12.

During its inspection, the college says it found no hot running water, dim lights, possible structural building issues and a generally dirty, disorganized and dilapidated environment.

The College says it will monitor the pharmacy over the next two weeks until the suspension takes effect, allowing patients time to move to new pharmacies and get new prescriptions.

The Native Vancouver Pharmacy declined to comment.
