SURREY, B.C. — British Columbia's gang-enforcement team says officers found an automatic handgun, $5,000 in cash and ammunition during a routine traffic stop of a Mercedes in Surrey, B.C.

The Combined Special Enforcement Unit says in a news release the vehicle with tinted windows was travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway when it was stopped at the 160th Street off-ramp last Friday.

Police say officers searched the car and found a cellphone, the cash and a Glock handgun that was modified to be fully automatic and had its serial number worn off.

They say a 10-round magazine and prohibited 30-round magazine, which were both partially loaded, were also seized from the car.

Twenty-six-year-old Riley Moore of Vancouver has been charged with 11 firearms offences and two others for breaching court orders.

Police say Moore was already facing drug, forcible confinement and assault-with-a-weapon charges, has been remanded in custody and is expected to be back in court on Friday.
