Police in Vancouver say a man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly bit off the finger tip of a security guard during an attack downtown.
Investigators say it happened on April 10 at a plaza outside the Granville Square office building near Granville and West Cordova streets.
Police say they were called in after the 62-year-old man, believed to be working as a security guard, had a "brief interaction" with the suspect at around 10:30 a.m.
They say that's when the suspect is alleged to have bitten offthe man's fingertip.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and police have confirmed the fingertip "could not be reattached."
The suspect — who is not known to the victim — has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and remains in custody until his next court appearance later this week.
