U.S. Agents Nab Burnaby Manslaughter Suspect And Return Him To Canada

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 12 Dec, 2014 05:34 PM
BURNABY, B.C. — A 20-year-old Vancouver man is in custody on a manslaughter charge after being arrested at Seattle's airport.

RCMP say Samir Mokhtar is a suspect in the Sept. 24 shooting death of 20-year-old Aladdin Ramadan in Burnaby and was known to have fled Canada.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency says Mokhtar was arrested at the airport on Wednesday after he arrived from Dubai and agents searched a crime database.

U.S. authorities say they detained Mokhtar overnight and transported him to Blaine, Wash., where they turned him over to the RCMP.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 12.

Police say that in October, a 16-year-old allegedly carrying a loaded firearm in Surrey was arrested in Samir's death.
