Unprovoked stabbing lands tourist in hospital

Vancouver Police are investigating an unprovoked stabbing in the Granville Entertainment District that sent one man to hospital last night.

The victim, a 28-year-old visitor from New Zealand, was allegedly stabbed from behind by a man not known to him, on the corner of Nelson and Granville just before 8 p.m. He took himself to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“From what we know so far, this attack appears to be completely random and unprovoked,” says Constable Tania Visintin. “Investigators are looking for a man about 5’5” tall, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans, and a blue baseball cap.”

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
