Unique Rose Quartz Statues Stolen From Vancouver Tourist Attraction

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 09 Sep, 2016 11:00 AM
VANCOUVER — A theft in Vancouver's Chinatown district is giving a whole new meaning to the term cat burglar, and police hope the public will help them pounce on the culprit.

Sgt. Brian Montague says that between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, someone stole two rose quartz lion statues from in front of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.

Montague says the statues are among the garden's treasures and have been a fixture at the popular tourist site for about three decades.

He says the 46-by-61-centimetre statues are extremely heavy.

Montague says investigators want to hear from anyone who may know who snatched the unique lions or where the statues ended up.

Police are hoping that someone with knowledge about who took the property, or the location of the stolen lions, will do the right thing and share that information with the VPD, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
