Two-year-old girl missing in corn field overnight found after search

Darpan News Desk Canadian Press, 13 Aug, 2014 10:58 AM
Police say a two-year-old girl who went missing in a corn field north of London, Ont., was found by a neighbour after a 14-hour search.

They say the toddler was spotted in a bean field late Wednesday morning next to the corn field she was originally lost in.

The girl is in good condition but was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

She went missing Tuesday night after a group of children playing in the corn field that surrounds a home returned to the residence without her.

Family members and neighbours searched the property but weren't able to find the girl so they contacted police.

Provincial police set up a perimeter and conducted a grid search with the help of a canine unit, volunteer fire fighters and other volunteers.

A military helicopter from CFB Trenton, and an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter also helped with the search.

The search area was described as approximately 100 acres or the equivalent of 75 football fields.
