Two people remain in critical condition following tour bus crash in B.C.

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 04 Sep, 2014 10:41 AM
Health officials say two people remain in critical condition following a tour bus crash along a mountain highway in British Columbia.

All 55 people on board the bus were injured last Thursday when the vehicle crashed on the Coquihalla Highway as it was heading back to Vancouver from a tour of the Rocky Mountains.

Darshan Lindsay with Interior Health Authority says 43 passengers were initially taken to hospitals in Kamloops and Kelowna, and now 15 people remain hospitalized, with two people still in critical condition.

Another 12 passengers were also taken from the crash scene to Fraser Health Authority hospitals.

The bus was carrying a group of tourists from Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the United States when it lost control and flipped on its side south of Merritt.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, though police have ruled out speed and road conditions as factors. (CFJC)
