Two Adults, Baby Killed In Two-Vehicle Collision In New Brunswick

The Canadian Press, 05 Apr, 2016 10:32 AM
SALISBURY, N.B. — Two young women and a one-year-old baby boy were killed when their car collided with a truck in New Brunswick, police said Tuesday.

The accident was reported around 6:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Homestead Road and Route 112, north of Salisbury.

RCMP Const. Donnie Robertson said all of the victims, including an 18-year-old woman from Lewis Mountain and a 24-year-old woman from Moncton, were in the car and died at the scene.

They had not released the victims' identities.

"I don't think we're near that yet," he said. "This is huge."

He said a 24-year-old man and three-year-old boy were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but their conditions were unknown.

A man driving the pickup truck was taken to hospital and later released.

Robertson was not able to reveal the relationship between the victims.

He said it's not yet clear what caused the collision at the intersection, which has two stop signs and a flashing light.

Reconstruction experts and a coroner were at the scene and Robertson said alcohol was not thought to be a factor.
