Trudeau, O'Toole tied as campaign hits final bend

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 14 Sep, 2021 10:05 AM
  • Trudeau, O'Toole tied as campaign hits final bend

The two front-runners in the federal campaign are focusing their pitches to voters as they eye the finish line to election day and as a new poll suggests the Liberals and Conservatives are running neck and neck.

The poll conducted by Leger in collaboration with The Canadian Press indicates the parties are tied with the support of 32 per cent of decided voters, with the NDP in third place with 20 per cent.

A similar poll conducted two weeks ago had the Conservatives ahead with 34 per cent compared with 30 per cent for the Liberals and 24 per cent for the NDP.

The polls cannot be given a margin of error because internet-based polls are not considered random samples.

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau during a stop in Richmond, B.C., is arguing Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole's plan would be detrimental for the country and the issues progressive voters care about.

O'Toole told reporters in Russel, Ont., that electors shouldn't reward Trudeau for another term, arguing that a vote for anyone but a Conservative candidate is a vote for the status quo.
