Truck Driver Killed In Fiery Crash On Highway 1 In Surrey

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 06 Nov, 2018 10:27 AM

SURREY, B.C. — One person has died in a fiery crash on Highway 1 just east of Vancouver.

Surrey RCMP say the crash occurred just after 3 a.m.

A commercial truck hit the median along the westbound lanes of the highway.

The impact demolished the big rig, which also burst into flames sending a thick cloud of smoke into the air. The cloud could be seen as far as the 200 Street exit into Langley.

All westbound traffic is being diverted off the busy commuter route until further notice.

A cause of the crash is under investigation.
