Triathlete Strokes To Marathon, 105 Km Lengthwise Okanagan Lake Swim

  • Triathlete Strokes To Marathon, 105 Km Lengthwise Okanagan Lake Swim
VERNON, B.C. — A Detroit man has completed a gruelling endurance swim across British Columbia's Okanagan Lake.

Adam Ellenstein hopes the 105-kilometre swim across the length of the lake in just under 41 hours will establish a Guinness World Record for the fastest lengthwise swim of the lake.

The 39-year-old endurance swimmer completed the feat late Tuesday night and says the non-stop swim was more a mental battle than a physical endurance.

Ellenstein says he's been training for the mental challenge on top of the physical swim for the last year because he knows that such long endurance events can start playing tricks on your mind.

Last year, he swam across Lake Winnipeg.

Ellenstein has dedicated his latest swim to increasing awareness of Parkinson's disease because his aunt was recently diagnosed with the illness.
