Trial Of B.C. Mountie Accused In Jail Sex Incident Begins

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 09 Sep, 2014 10:38 AM

The trial of a Mountie accused of watching two female inmates have sex in a jail cell is expected to begin in B.C. Supreme Court in Kamloops.

Cpl. Ken Brown, who also goes by his middle name Rick, is charged with breach of trust in connection with the incident on Aug.18, 2010.

Brown was the watch commander the night he and two other Mounties, as well as a jail guard, allegedly watched through a video monitor two drunk women engage in a sex act.

Jail guard David Tompkins was placed on one year of probation after pleading guilty to breach of trust, and charges against the two other RCMP constables, Evan Elgee and Stephen Zaharia, were dropped.

Crown prosecutor Winston Sayson says he expects to call up 17 witnesses during Brown's trial, which is expected to last for just under three weeks.

Brown was suspended with pay after the incident and he remains on paid leave. (CFJC, Kamloops This Week)
