Transportation Safety Board To Probe Generator-Room Fire Aboard Vessel At Fraser Surrey Docks

The Canadian Press, 13 Jul, 2015 10:21 AM
RICHMOND, B.C. — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending a team to the Fraser Surrey Docks after a ship fire put a section of the facility temporarily out of commission over the weekend.

A fire broke out Sunday morning aboard the Cap Blanche.

A spokeswoman for the docks, Jill Buchanan, says the container ship will remain docked while TSB officials investigate.

Buchanan says the fire started a short while after the ship had finished unloading.

She says the cause of the blaze was a small fuel spill in the generator room.

Buchanan says no one was hurt, that the fire caused minimal damage and that no fuel reached the water. (CKNW)
