Transport Truck Loaded With Parcels Destroyed By Fire Near Revelstoke, B.C.

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Dec, 2018 07:36 PM

REVELSTOKE, B.C. — A transport truck loaded with parcels has gone up in flames in southeastern B.C.

The RCMP say the truck was fully engulfed when crews reached it east of Revelstoke at about 8:30 p.m.

It was hauling parcels for courier company UPS, but police say the cab and trailer were reduced to little more than charred metal and nothing could be saved.

The driver told police he saw sparks coming from under the dash of the cab before the flames broke out.

He said he jumped from the still-moving truck, which rolled to a stop in a ditch with the burning trailer blocking the Trans-Canada Highway.

Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky says the remains of the trailer have been pushed off the road and traffic was moving with minor delays.

He says the wreckage will be removed later.
