Transit Workers Reject City Offer, Vote In Favour Of Strike In Fredericton

The Canadian Press, 11 Jan, 2016 11:26 AM
FREDERICTON — Transit workers have rejected the latest offer from the City of Fredericton.

Ralph McBride of CUPE says the 43 members of Local 1783 voted 73 per cent in favour of a strike over the weekend.

He says pay and benefits for certain workers remain key issues.

McBride says he's open to resuming negotiations before any job action is taken.

But Mayor Brad Woodside says council has discussed the issue and is "determined that the offer does not have to increase in any way."
