TORONTO — The Toronto Zoo's baby polar bear is ready to leave home.

Little Humphrey, who is just over one year old, is heading to the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg.

The Toronto Zoo says the move marks the next step in Humphrey's behavioural development.

It says staff spent the last year helping Humphrey become independent, and it's now time for him to socialize with other polar bears.

The zoo says the last chance to see Humphrey in Toronto will be next Monday.

He currently lives with three adult polar bears at the zoo: his mother Aurora, father Inukshuk and aunt Nikita.
