Toronto: Low Key Start To Doug Ford Mayoral Campaign

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 13 Sep, 2014 10:31 AM

TORONTO - The Ford who is now in Toronto's mayoralty race is not expected to be out stumping for votes this weekend.

Doug Ford announced yesterday that he was jumping into the race in place of his brother Mayor Rob Ford who abandoned his re-election bid due to health concerns.

He says his brother asked him "to take the torch while he focuses on getting better."

Doug Ford says he's not in the "full campaign mode" because he wants to spend a couple of days with his family, but he promises after that he will be.

His brother was diagnosed with an abdominal tumour and it's expected to take a week for biopsy results showing whether it is malignant.

Although he's no longer seeking re-election as mayor, Rob Ford will run for a seat on city council.
