Tim Hortons Billionaire Co-founder Ron Joyce Asks Court To Toss Sex Assault Suit

The Canadian Press, 23 Feb, 2016 11:42 AM
TORONTO — Lawyers for the billionaire co-founder of Tim Hortons are in court in Toronto today arguing for a sexual assault claim against him to be thrown out.

They argue the claim against Ron Joyce was filed too late.

They also say Joyce and the woman had already settled the matter when he paid her $50,000 and forgave up to $150,000 in loans he had made to her.

The woman is suing Joyce for $7.5 million.

She claims he sexually assaulted her at his home in Burlington, Ont., in May 2011, something he denies.

Joyce's lawyers argue he spurned the woman's marriage proposal and request to invest in a real estate project before suing him.
