Three Shootings In Less Than 12 Hours In Surrey, One Man Hospitalized, Police Investigate

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 09 Aug, 2017 10:15 AM

SURREY, B.C. — Police are investigating a string of shootings in Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say they were called to three separate reports of shots being fired in the Vancouver suburb on Tuesday.

The first call came in around noon and officers responded to a residential neighbourhood to find shots had been fired into a garage door before a suspect fled on a motorcycle.

Officers were called again around 7 p.m. and RCMP say they found evidence of people in one vehicle shooting at another vehicle.

Witnesses who live in the neighbourhood said they were startled by the gunfire.

"It really freaked me out," said one woman who did not want to be identified. "I'm scared of Surrey, I'm scared of Vancouver, and things have to get better."

Hours later, officers were called to a location about 10 kilometres away for another report of gunshots, and arrived to find a man with non-life threatening injuries who was taken to hospital.

Police say their investigations are in the early stages but all three incidents are believed to be targeted.
