  • Three RCMP officers in Prince George, B.C., face assault charges over arrest

Charges have been approved against three Mounties in Prince George, B.C., related to the arrest of two suspects in February 2016.

British Columbia's prosecution service says Const. Joshua Grafton faces charges of assault, assault with a weapon and obstruction, while constables Wayne Connell and Kyle Sharpe are charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The allegations were investigated by B.C.'s police watchdog, which submitted a report to the Crown for consideration of charges two years ago.

The prosecution service says in a news release that the charge assessment process was significantly delayed because of the complexity of the case and requests it made for more information.

No details of the allegations have been released either by the RCMP or the Independent Investigations Office.

When it released its report to the Crown, the oversight agency said its investigation related to injuries suffered by two males during their arrest in Prince George on Feb. 18, 2016.
