Three People In Vancouver Hospital After Series Of Stabbings: Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Mar, 2017 11:07 AM
VANCOUVER — Three people were in a hospital with serious stab wounds following a series of separate attacks in Vancouver on Thursday.

Const. Jason Doucette said officers have arrested a 33-year-old man.

Doucette said officers responded shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday to reports of a man being stabbed following an altercation at a normally busy intersection in the city.

Police received 911 calls stemming from two subsequent attacks, the last of which led to a suspect being taken into custody nearly two kilometres away, he said.

Police say calls came in during a follow-up investigation about a fourth assault where a man was punched.

Doucette said no charges have been laid and police have not determined a motive behind the attacks.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the attacks to contact them. They want witnesses to provide details of the incidents and to help put them in touch with support services.

"I couldn't imagine seeing something like this and just going home and thinking about it all day," Doucette said.

"We have tools in our tool belt and resources to put these people in contact with. And if they decide they don't want it, great. But we'd sure like to offer it."

The first attack happened at the intersection of West Broadway and Cambie Street. The last person was stabbed at Main Street and East 2nd Avenue in east Vancouver.
