Thousands Pay Homage As Nirankari Spiritual Guru Baba Hardev Singh Cremated

    Thousands of devotees of the Nirankari sect gathered here as spiritual leader Baba Hardev Singh, who died in Canada last Friday, was cremated with full honours at the national capital's Nigambodh Ghat on Wednesday.
     
    Followers of the Nirankari sect, including many from abroad, participated in the leader's Antim Yatra (last journey) that began from Nirankari Ground at Burari in north Delhi in the morning and culminated at Nigambodh Ghat.
     
    The last rites took place at the CNG Crematorium of Nigambodh Ghat at noon. 
     
     
    Mata Savinder Kaur, the wife of Baba Hardev Singh, was anointed the head of the Nirankari Sect that was founded in 1929 and has more than 10 million followers all over the world. Kaur is the fifth head of the sect.
     
    As per a communique released by the Sect, followers from the US, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Germany, among others, flew down to Delhi to pay their last respects to Baba Hardev Singh.
