Thieves Use A Motor Home And Two Pickup Trucks To Steal Pontoon Boat Worth $111,000 In Kelowna

The Canadian Press, 08 Jul, 2015 11:28 AM
KELOWNA, B.C. — Employees of a Kelowna, B.C., boat dealership are in shock after the brazen theft of their most expensive boat on Sunday.

Amanda Jefferson, Marketing Co-ordinator at Banner Recreation and Marine, says the suspects used a motor home and two pickup trucks to steal a 2015 Campion Biltmore pontoon boat worth $111,000.

Jefferson says the theft is unbelievable because the vessel is large, unique and is one of only five with a similar colour-scheme in Western Canada.

She also says the heist was well-planned, the thieves were familiar with the dealership's measures to secure its boats and also knew the business was closed Sunday and Monday.

Surveillance video shows the suspects pulled up at around 7:15 a.m. Sunday with a motor home and two newer model F-350 Ford pickups, then simply drove off the lot with their loot, after cutting chains on the boat trailer and removing the locked casing around the trailer hitch.

The pontoon boat is seven metres long with a black and white design on the hull and has a 200-horsepower Evinrude G-2 engine. Anyone with any information about the boat or the theft is asked to call Kelowna RCMP. (CKFR)
