Theft, Fraud Charges Laid After Alleged Fraud At Surrey's KB Woodward Elementary School

The Canadian Press, 26 Jul, 2017 11:36 AM
SURREY, B.C. — Police say a woman has been arrested after the alleged theft of thousands of dollars from the parent advisory council at an elementary school in Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say staff from KB Woodward Elementary School contacted them last September to report that the group had been defrauded of more than $35,000.

Officers with the force's economic crime unit investigated and identified a suspect.

Police say a 31-year-old woman from Surrey turned herself in on Monday.

Tuyet Ngo has now been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and using forged bank statements.

Cpl. Scotty Schumann says businesses, individuals and the school community came together to raise funds to cover the losses.
