Teenager Killed, Young Man Severely Injured In South Vancouver Collision

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 05 Nov, 2015 01:53 PM
  • Teenager Killed, Young Man Severely Injured In South Vancouver Collision
VANCOUVER — An 18-year-old woman is dead and her 20-year-old friend has a broken neck and head injuries after the two were hit by a car in south Vancouver.

Police say the crash happened just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old driver lost control after hitting the pedestrians and her vehicle slammed into a power pole and a bus stop before coming to a stop.

Officers say the woman remained at the scene, is co-operating, and her car has been seized as part of the investigation.

Acting Insp. Ken Eng says police want to speak to any witnesses, noting a young woman has died, another person has suffered life-altering injuries and the collision was preventable.

Eleven people have died in road accidents around Vancouver this year, nine of them pedestrians.
