Teen Shot Outside Surrey Elementary School Was Targeted, No One's Co-Operating: Police

The Canadian Press, 04 Dec, 2015 11:44 AM
SURREY, B.C. — RCMP believe a 17-year-old boy who was shot in the leg near an elementary school in Surrey, B.C., was targeted.

Police say multiple young people from two different groups were involved in a prearranged altercation.

Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses but say the victim and others believed to have been at the scene are being minimally co-operative.

Mounties have said two Caucasian males between the ages of 17 and 22 are believed to have been involved in the shooting Tuesday night.

Cpl. Scotty Schumann says police will be working with the school district and parents of youth thought to be linked to the shooting in an effort to prevent similar problems.

Police say there's no indication to suggest the shooting was related to recent conflicts between people in the drug trade in Surrey.
