Tech summit coming to Vancouver

Global technology conference Web Summit is headed to Vancouver next May.

Destination Vancouver says it expects the event to generate 172-million dollars in direct spending and 279-million dollars in overall economic impact for B-C over three years.

Other versions of Web Summit have taken place in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar and the same organizers are behind the Collision event Toronto has hosted since 2019.

But organizers say Web Summit Vancouver will take the place of Collision, which is being held in Toronto next week.

British Columbia is beginning to offer an immunotherapy cancer treatment in the province for some patients who haven't had success with standard chemotherapy or radiation.
