Taxes no longer a pain in the app for small, medium-sized businesses: CRA

Darpan News Desk Canadian Press, 21 Aug, 2014 04:59 PM
Taxes may no longer be a pain in the app for Canada's small and medium-sized businesses.

A new mobile application released by the Canada Revenue Agency for Apple iOS, Google Android and BlackBerry allows business owners to create reminders and alerts for payments, returns and remittances.

Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay introduced the app in Vancouver, saying tax reminders sent by mail can put people in a panic, and the new app means business owners won't have to stress as much about deadlines.

Laura Jones of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says the app is a less formal and more modern way to remind people about their obligations.

She says a letter from the federal agency could scare people, even if it's just a reminder.

The free download is available on the CRA website and at app stores.
