Tasty Thank-You: Edmonton-Area Pub Offers Customer Chicken Wings For Not Driving Drunk

The Canadian Press, 20 Oct, 2016 12:46 PM
SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. — An Edmonton-area pub has offered a woman an unusual thank-you for not winging it on the road after having too much to drink.

Paula Schultz says she decided to leave her SUV overnight at Original Joe's Pub and Restaurant in Sherwood Park and walk home  because she'd had too much wine.

She went back to pick up her vehicle the next day and found a thank-you note — and a voucher for chicken wings.

Schultz says she feared she'd been given a ticket when she first saw the note on her windshield.

The note was written by Jay McLean, the restaurant's manager, and  asked Schultz to accept the wings as a thank-you for being responsible.

Turns out the gesture was made, even though McLean wasn't sure if Schultz had even been drinking at his pub.

"Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight," said the note.

"I'm not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving."

The note continued: "Life is valuable. Have a great weekend."
