ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — An innocent bystander has been killed in Abbotsford, B.C., after being caught in the violence of a targeted shooting.
Abbotsford Police say the incident happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday night (in the 3500 block of Promontory Court) in a quiet neighbourhood on the northwestern edge of the Fraser Valley city.
Officers say the 74-year-old man was standing outside his home when a targeted shooting occurred in the neighbouring driveway.
The victim died at the scene.

Police have not said who may have been the target of the attack, whether any suspects have been identified or if any arrests have been made.

The home where this shooting took place is in an area of west Abbotsford where numerous incidents of violence
Const. Ian MacDonald told, "This is an absolute horrible tragedy, worst case scenario in many ways. It should be a wake-up call to everyone in the community that they have to assist police and we have to restore public safety.”"
“This completely innocent senior who was doing nothing wrong except being outside his own property, who should absolutely have the right to feel safe in his own community was very unsafe and made unsafe by people who are involved in this conflict.”
