Police in Vancouver say officers cordoned off an area of downtown yesterday due to a suspicious package.
Police say emergency response officers later examined the package and found no explosive device.
Explosive disposal officers attended a second call in Metro Vancouver the same day, when Surrey R-C-M-P say they found a "possible military-style explosive device" in a park.
The device was neutralized, and police say it was inactive and did not pose a risk to the public.

A 15-year-old girl is in hospital with serious injuries after she was lit on fire at a Saskatoon high school, police said Thursday. Sgt. Ken Kane told reporters that a school resource officer, who was at Evan Hardy Collegiate for a different matter, apprehended a 14-year-old girl as a suspect.
