Suspicious Item Found On Busy Stretch Of West Broadway

Darpan News Desk , 24 Nov, 2016 01:09 PM
The VPD have concluded a suspicious item left on West Broadway was not dangerous.

Earlier this evening, police received a 9-1-1 call about a suspicious package on West Broadway between Birch and Alder Street. Officers arrived and located what appeared to be a pressure cooker.

In an abundance of caution, the immediate area was evacuated and the VPD Explosives Disposal Unit was brought in to examine and x-ray the item.

It was determined the cooker was empty and inert, and posed no risk to the public. Investigators will look at trying to identify who put the item there and the reason why.

The area has been reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
