Suspected UN Gangster Arrested Near Dawson Creek Four-Hour Police Chase

The Canadian Press , 09 Sep, 2014 12:37 PM
A man police say is associated with the UN Gang and wanted on outstanding warrants in Alberta and Newfoundland has been arrested in northeastern B.C. for gun, drug and property-related crimes.

Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of B.C.'s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit says the 32-year-old man was arrested in Dawson Creek following a four-hour police chase.

Houghton says that in mid-August, police began investigating a group of drug dealers believed to be gang members from the Grand Prairie, Alta., area, and led by the prime suspect.

The group was allegedly operating on a rural property outside Dawson Creek, and investigators searched the place after getting information that it held a significant amount of stolen goods, drugs and guns.

When police showed up, the prime suspect fled first on foot and then on an all-terrain vehicle, forcing police officers, K9 units and a helicopter to pursue him for about four hours before he was finally arrested.

Houghton says police found a loaded handgun, $35,000 in cash and drugs on the man and $200,000 worth of stolen goods were seized from the property, including a boat, a trailer, pickup trucks and a motorcycle.
