Suspect In Letter Bomb That Injured Winnipeg Lawyer Seeking Bail

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Aug, 2015 12:11 PM
WINNIPEG — A man accused of sending a letter bomb that severely injured a Winnipeg lawyer is in court seeking bail.

Guido Amsel is facing more than a dozen criminal charges related to  the July 3 blast.

Amsel showed no emotion, but his wife wept as he was brought into court.

The Crown has said it will oppose Amsel's release.

A publication ban has been ordered preventing any details of the all-day hearing from being reported.

Lawyer Maria Mitousis lost a hand and suffered other serious injuries in the blast.

Police found other explosive devices at two other law firms, but they were disposed of without incident.

Police allege Amsel was targeting his former wife and the lawyers who were involved in a lengthy legal dispute between the couple.
