Surrey RCMP is informing the public of a shooting at a Newton residence and requesting anyone with further information to contact police.

On January 18, 2022 shortly before 9:00 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a fight in front of a residence in the 13400-block of 66A Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old man with a possible gunshot wound who was transported to hospital.  The injury sustained was confirmed to be non-life threatening and the victim is expected to be released from hospital shortly.

A suspect was arrested on scene and transported to Surrey RCMP cells where he remains in police custody pending further investigation.

Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has conduct of the investigation and the scene has been secured pending a search warrant.  The victim is known to police and is not cooperating with the investigation; however, the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.
