Suspect In Alleged Vancouver Sex Assault Charged, Remains In Custody

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Mar, 2015 05:05 PM

VANCOUVER — A man has been charged after a Vancouver woman was allegedly tied up and sexually assaulted by an intruder in her home.

Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague says the suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Montague declined to release more details due to a publication ban, but says he anticipates additional charges.

Police originally alleged the incident took place Thursday afternoon in the Strathcona neighbourhood, in the city's east end, and that a suspect was armed.

They said a Good Samaritan who heard the woman screaming entered the home, struggled with an intruder and held the person until police arrived.

Others also apparently came to the rescue until officers showed up, some saying the victim was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
